Molluscum complication and Herpes

Day 1: Get Oral sex and hand job from girl with genital herpes. She manually stimulated herself before giving me oral sex.  She touched my groin at least 30 seconds after she touched herself.  (Her underwear stayed on; no skin to skin contact.) She’s been on a one a day pill for 2 years, no outbreaks since.

Day 3: Diagnosed with molluscum. Dr. says I probably had it for a few days and didn't notice it; some spots were pussing.

Day 10: Fissure on head of my penis and lacerations on foreskin. Maybe the result of a reaction to retin-A and an erection.  (I literally saw my skin stretching). Dr. says take Zinc oxide.

Day 20: Fissure on my anus and hemorrhoid.  Describe potential herpes incident to nurse practitioner (N.P.) who says there is no way I have herpes. Take anal med; subsequently excrete 2+ pounds of feces

Day 40: HIV and Herpes II test. (neg.)

Day 60: Molluscum pusses, decreases in size. Tender spot in groin about one inch above penis and a little to the left.  I have skin irritation on ENTIRE penis.  Feels like powdery latex glove, red and irritated. N.P. says I also have a swollen lymph-node in my left groin. (Neg. for mono; normal white blood count.)

Day 64: More swollen lymph nodes in left groin; definitely more than the one the nurse found. Irritation on penis is better; molluscum still shrinking but still pussing.

1. Should I get another herpes test at 90 days? (only had symptoms above)
2. Any thoughts as to why my lymphnodes are swollen?

It takes molluscum contagiosum at least a couple of weeks to show up.  You got that someplace other than the hand job and oral sex.  You cannot get herpes by a hand job, or at least too rare to worry about.   You can get it from oral sex, but none of your symptoms suggests herpes--but 2 different health care providers told you it isn't herpes, and direct examination by a provider is always more reliable than my opinion anyway.  Any inflammation of the penis, legs, etc (of any cause) can cause lymph nodes in the groin to become inflamed--i.e., that's not evidence of herpes and probably goes along with the fissure/lacerations on the penis and/or anus.

So you clearly have no worries about herpes.  You need to think back to other sexual exposures in the 4-6 weeks before your symptoms started, and any partners from that period about your MC infection.

The direct replies to your quesions are:  1) I don't recommend herpes testing.  2) See above about the cause of your lymph node inflammation.

Best wishes

Also, Excessive fatigue the last 4-5 days (days 59 - 64) That is the reason for the mono test.

I deleted a comment from "ohhboy" because I disagree with that persons' advice.  to get tested for herpes.  His atypical experience says nothing about whether or not you have herpes--and from his description, I'm not sure most of his symptoms in fact were due to herpes, despite his positive blood test.

I never had a positive blood test. Took the test at 30+ days which came up negative, waiting to take it at 90. Just for your information. Hopefully It will come out negative, however I am skeptical...

FYI; I probably got molluscum from a towel. I share a place with someone who had molluscum.  After my diagnosis with molluscum, I warned the girl (so she can be on the look-out); that is when I found out about the herpes.

Last question:

Can molluscum itself have caused the inflamed lymph-nodes. My body has waged war on it recently, as I can tell it is down significantly.

Thanks; your site is great and I two different people told me about your service (and both told me not to self diagnose; that is why I went into the doctor so many times.)
