Dear Doc:

I had the incident of a possible condom slippage with an escort (I wrote to you about this before). Well I confirmed my 10 day DNA PCR with a 12 week ELISA, but I am now having joint pain in my right thigh (its week 12). My initial symptoms were transient papular rash(day 7-day 16) and sore throat (day 2-day 16). I also had a day of headache and shoulder pain in the middle.

1) I guess I have ruled out HIV with a negative 83 day ELISA despite these symptoms?

2) I havent checked for other STDS's? Does this sound like any STD to you? (I was scared this may be disseminated gonorrheal infection)?

Many thanks

Albert

This doesn't sound like any STD, including disseminated gonorrhea.  Yes, 80+ days is plenty for an HIV test to become positive.  Whatever is causing your symptoms, I'm sure it isn't related to the sexual exposure you describe.
