Are breathing problems often brought on by stroke?

by Booper1, May 06, 2006 12:00AM
My father, age 82, suffered his second stroke a couple of weeks ago and is being hospitalized.  He is doing even worse now than he was immediately following this stroke, both physically and mentally.  What concerns me most though, is that he gasps for breath and has a deep cough, although his recent chest x-ray is clear. Can this breathing difficulty possibly be a side effect from the stroke?
