Beer and Sleep Patterns

I just had a nurse tell me that many of my problems could be related to beer.  I am on an anti-depressant Effexor but have always been fatigued and seem to have all the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome.  I do often have 2-4 beers in the evening.  I did notice I am less likely to have muscle and joint aches in the night if I don't drink.  However, for example, today I just can't seem to wake up.  I am not a coffee drinker and I did have 2 beer around bed time.  Could that cause dehydration to the point that in the morning it is hard to function?  I seem to tolerate alcohol well but am wondering if it contributes to my problems?  Any ideas?

Hi, I don't think antipressents and any alchohol mix well. Maybe this is a factor in how you feel. Sure someone else will be able to help you on the forum . Take Care Chris

I don't think 2 beer would dehydrate you, but any liquor before bed can disrupt your sleep patterns - your sleep isn't as restful.  I find I'm more sensitive to this as I get older - even a glass of wine can throw off my sleep - but everyone's different.  Crystaly is right - you shouldn't be drinking at all with the Effexor.  Maybe drop the beer for a couple or three weeks and see if that helps.
