Burning discomfort....doc has no idea

I have previously posted on a differnt board, but now that this has gone on for so long I feel as though it is "undiagnoseable".  I have had a burning sensation in my vaginal area for about 4 months now.  I previously had a yeast infection which I treated w/ Monistat 1-day.  After the treatment, all itching went away except for this strange burning/hot feeling on my vulva.  I had gone in to my GYN and she said I had BV.  I have taken Flagyl twice and Metrogel once, but this burning feeling still remains.  I have never noticed a real foul odor that is accociated with BV, but the doc said she saw it in the wet-prep...I also noticed an increased need to urinate and she did a urine culture, the first part of the test came back with bacteria, the second said I was fine.  She treated it with a 3-day dose of Cipro XR and the increased need to urinate is not like it was, but the burning discomfort is still present. At times I am unable to pin-point if this feeling is coming from the urethra for everywhere. I have been in a committed relationship for 7 years, and have been on Ortho Tri cylen bc for about 9 months now.  I was told to switch to the Nuva Ring...I am at a loss of what this could be.  The last wet-prep that I had was negative for BV so what could this be?  Doc told me to start taking Acidophilus which I have been taking religiously for almost a month now.  This is making me very depressed and irritated constantly...luckily I have a very understanding boyfriend.  Please help if you can.

I have a very strong burning feeling in my bladder and vaginal area, but it constantly feels like i need to go to the toilet but when i go nothing comes out. This is very painful, do you have any idea of what this could be?

Thanks for the response.  I don't take baths, only showers.  i use dove sensitive skin soap, ALL clear laundry detergent with no fragrances.  I don't use comdoms...haven't had sex in 4 months due to this issue.  I was taking Ortho Tri Cylcin for BC doc wanted me to switch to the Nuva Ring.  It has been about 2 weeks since last at docs, than about 1 week since I spoke with the nurse and she thought I had a UTI and wanted me to take the Cipro XR for 3 days and take acidophilus and cranberry pills for 2 months and change to the Nuva Ring.  I will switch to the Nuva ring today, although I am not too sure how this will make it any better.  I was thinking of just going off the BC all together.  It just feels like it's burning...what could it be?  This is horrible.

Do you have baths? If so, stop.  Make sure you only dab with the toilet paper ie no scrubbing.  Use gel for sex. Try changing brands of tampon.  Maybe you're allergic to condoms.

How long has it been since you last saw the doctor?
If you are still having problems, she needs to know so that she can figure out what else needs to be done.

Wishing you the best,
Carol
