siezures chilren

My son is 14 months old and has downs syndrome with av canal defect-repaired, reflux Nissen repair, swallowing difficulties-g button inserted for fluids.  He has been having spells primarily while eating, either his eyes will constrict or he rests his chin on his chest and looks like he is rolling his eyes up. It only lasts for a couple of seconds and then he looks up and is back to normal. It is happening more frequently and not always at meal times as before. Could he be having non epileptic seizures? Why so much more often at meal times? I have asked his pediatrician about this and she says "well why would it just be at meal times?"  Any explantion of what is going on would be truly appreciated. Thanks.

get another pediatrician- those types of seizures can accompany meals- called eating seizures or reflex seizures or focal seizures- If your child has such pervasive medical problems seek another more qualified pediatrician

Hey, it gets me when docs ask stupid questions.  Did he even try to find out what it might be?  I know that children with Downs Syndrome have all kinds of medical issues to deal with.  I wish that I could help you in some way.  When this happens, does his body become rigid?  Just looking for other clues - do you notice anything other than the chin resting and eye rolling?
Maybe some one here can help.
