Low TSH, Normal T4 and T3

Current data:-
Age 41, Male, no previous thyroid issue.
Blood Lab shows TSH 0.059 up from 0.02uIU/ml after 2 wks
Thyroxine (T4) 11.6+ ug/dL
T3 Uptake  36%
Thyroid ultrasound showed 1. "no focal thyroid abnormalities" and 2. Puntate colloid cyst 2mm in the right thyroid lobe.
Chest Xray shows all is well
blood in uring checked by uroligist with cystoscope and lab revailing a healthy system.

Taking Methimazole Oral for 3 weeks symptoms of feeling bad in morning, elevated heart rate 88bpm, mental fog etc have been reduced.

New symptom of  poppoing in throat while swalloing.

Question:-  since I cannot get in with the endo until July, and my primary is baffled, do you have any insight into possible cause of the hyperthyroid and is the Methimazole capable of causing what the doc says is sticking while swallowing?

I appreciate you advice.

sticking w/swallowing may be gastric acid reflux - which sometimes is caused by tapazole.  the hyperthyroidism sounds like graves disease if there were no nodules on US.  Lab testing for TSI/TBII could confirm this.  The other possibility is transient silent thyroiditis -- this will get better on it's own -- if the endo apt is not until July it may be that you will know by then if this is thyroiditis or graves -- if the TSH goes up significantly in 4-6 weeks, stop the tapazole - it was likely thyroiditis.

I HAD SIMILAR MEDICAL CONDITION IN THE PAST WITH WEIGHT LOSS, RACING HEART. MY THYROID FUNCTION TEST WAS VERY SIMILAR TO YOU WITH LOW TSH, NORMAL T3 AND T4 BUT IN THE HIGHER SIDE. MY THYROID NUCLEAR SCAN WAS DONE AND THEY MADE THE DIAGNOSIS OF MILD HYPERACTIVE THYROID GLAND.

IN MY CASE THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS SUBCLINICAL HYPERTHYROIDISM. DOCTOR ADVISE ME TO TAKE 15MG CARBIMAZOLE AS KIND OF HYPOTHYROID DRUG LIKE METHIMAZOLE. BUT IT CAN BE TAKE ONCE A DAY.I WAS ALSO PUT ON ATENOLOL 25MG PER DAY. THOUGH I MILD GAIN WEIGHT IN THE PERIOD OF 3 MONTH AND HAS SEVERE RASH IN MY WHOLE BODY  MY HEART RATE IS NOW 75/MIN MAY BE DUE TO ATENOLOL. BUT NOW I HAVE SYMPTOM OF HYPOTHYROID LIKE SENSATION OF COLD AND FATIGUE. I CONSULTED THE DOCTOR AND HE DECREASED THE DOSE OF CARBIMAZOLE TO 10 MG, AND MAKE IT 5 PER DAY. I WAS WONDERING WHETHER I SHOULD COMPLETELY STOP CARBIMAZOLE OR DO I NEED TO CONTINUE BECAUSE I AM GETTING DIFFERENT KIND OF ANSWERS?

I DIDN'T STOP TAKING IT. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY KIND OF STICKING SENSATION IN THE THROAT. BUT NOW YOUR ARE TAKING ANTITHYROID DRUG IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT YOU HAVE DEVELOPED HYPOTHYROID AND THAT IS THE CAUSE OF VOICE CHAGE OR STICKING SENSATION. I THINK YOU HAVE TO CONSULT A ENT DOCTOR AND ENDOCRINOLOGY.

Thank you for your comments.  I did test negative for the Graves antibodies according to my pcp.  If that means this is  transient silent thyroiditis, can I prevent itin the future with diet excercise, ect?  What would be a good resource for me?

This service is a great resource in addition to local care.

Best Regards and God Bless
