I am 38 years old - last of 5 pregnancy over a year ago. No medications - no history of thyroid problems - After pregnacy was suffering with severe fatigue - weight gain - brain fog - mild depression - and not post partum - but 6 months after baby. Went to dr. very low iron and low TSH. He wrote these results off as post partum instability with thyroid. Went back almost 1 year to date from baby iron still low TSH even lower - but normal t3 and t4. Ordered a thyroid scan - normal - he is perplexed that my tsh keeps falling and my hormones appear normal. I am confused as my symptoms are all in the hypo category and have not been ressolved. He is sending me to an endocrinologist but am fearful he won't aggressively help me find out what is wrong. My husband commented he couldn't remember where he parked the other day when he was on Sudafed - and privately I know that is how I am each and every time I park. I really want resolution and have spent hours on the internet trying to find some insight. The only thing I have read is that perhaps my symtoms are that of central thyroidism? Any help or insight to equip me with information before i see the endocrinologist would be greatly appreciated.

This is subclinical hyperthyroidism. Most likely early (latent) Graves disease given the 'normal' I-123 scan. This is unlikely to be a pituitary problem (central hypothyroid) but this remains a possibility.
Would test TBII/TSI as well as more common thyroid antibodies (TPO and Tg).

Be sure to ask your doctor or endo to run antibodies testing for autoimmune thyroid disease, including TPO-Ab, Tg-Ab, and TSI-Ab. The TSI test is definitive for Graves disease; the other two are found in Hashimoto's. Although one is a hyper disease and the other a hypo disease, many of the symptoms overlap. I have what seem to be mostly hypo symptoms but my TSI test came back positive for Graves; I am just not at a hyperthyroid level at this time.
Good luck with your endo appointment, and I hope you feel better soon. Are you taking anything for the iron deficiency?
