I had TSH which was (if I remember correctly) 1.5, and an ultrasound which showed multiple nodules in both lobes (one particularly large when can be seen & felt). My weight has been going up since last year (3 sizes jeans!)even though I eat properly & exercise, my face is puffy, I have trouble sleeping, my hands, feet & lesser extent body get very cold almost all of the time, and feel very fatigued even after sleep. Even with a normal TSH, could I still be hypothyroid or have Hashimoto's? Will a biopsy shed more light as to what's going on? Thank you.

The thyroid function is normal (TSH 1.5) so the weight gain is not likely thyroid related. The nodules need FNA biopsy (as 5-10% of nodules are cancer) but the nodules usually do not cause thyroid function problems, so would not explain weight gain, etc. You could have Hashimotos and testing antibodies is reasonable.
My doctor hasnt done an antibody test, and the endocrinologist said she doesnt need to do it , they just want me to have an FNB which im afraid to do , because I read you can go hyper after having that done.
My sister has graves disease.
I was wondering are these nodules/solid mass going to eventually turn into a thyroid problem later in life? Will I most deffinelty have graves disease or a hypo thyroid prob?
Doctor.. have you in all your prac ever seen anyone with a goiter and multi nodules live thier life with NO thyroid disease present at all ? Or do they eventually turn into a thyroid prob later?
