Is silent thyroiditis really my problem?

by amir650, Jul 19, 2007 12:00AM
Doctor please help me interpret these results.

On 6/11 my T4 was 4.4 and my TSH was .005
On 6/27 my T4 was 3.4 and my TSH was .004
on 7/17 my T4 was 1.8 -- I don't know what my TSH was - its not in my online record.

NORMAL T4 = 0.8-1.7
NORMAL TSH = 0.2-5.5

When I did the bloodwork on 6/27 I also requested a TPO antibody test.  My score was 838 where <35 is normal.  Does this mean I have hashi's or some other auto immune disease?  My doctor didn't mention that.  I don't have a goiter and I was originally diagnosed around 6/11 with silent thyroiditis.  My radioactive thyroid scan had "low uptake".  Does silent thyroiditis still seem like the correct diagnosis?

Final question:  Despite feeling better, I still don't feel 100%.  Is that normal given that my T4=1.8?  I still feel light headed, tired, and just generally gross.

My symptoms when my T4 was 4.4 included: fear, anxiety, depression, diahhrea, insomnia, weight loss, dizziness, fatigue, rubbery legs, and tinnitus(which i still have :[ )

kind regards,
   Amir

Sounds like silent thyroiditis, but with the positive antibodies, there is more chance of not recovering from the upcoming hypothyroid phase.  keeping a close eye on things will be important.
