hypothyroidism and weight loss

by Ladyg45, Aug 20, 2005 12:00AM
I was told I had a thyroid problem in May I had it treated and now I have to deal with hypothyroidism. I had lost weight aprox. 45lbs. Now that weight seems to be returning. I am a walker I walk aprox 4-5 miles per day 5-6 days per week, I stop eating after 6:00pm daily. after reading the comments here all I read is the problems with losing weight after hypothyroid. I have or will began taking synthroid 125mlg. per day on Sunday. does anyone have good news about weight loss and maintaining it? I would like to reach my goal of 140. I am now at 172. I am 5'4" 52 years of age. Thank you in advance for your responses

Well. If you have a problem with constipation you can take things that will help with that and make you regualar. Like stool softeners and metamucil or citrucil.

good luck.

I have hyperthyroidism, but my friends Mum (55yrs) had hypo for years and didn't know. She put on weight no matter what she did. She was diagnosed a year ago and once her meds were sorted out she ate right and exercised and was losing 2 pounds a week. She looks really good and reached her goal of 135. (She was 165). She said she has a good metabolism now and is totally okay. Good luck! You are not too far away from your goal!
