Urinary and Fecal Incontinence in an 8 year old Female.

My daughter is now almost 9 and has been bedwetting since birth.  Along with this problem is fecal incontinence and has always been present with the urinary incontinence.  She has accidents day or night about 0 to 4 times.  We have had all kinds of tests done with the only positive result being that she has a deformed flap in the bladder that leads to the kidney.  We have since been told that this has "healed up".  Forgive my vagueness as I am writting this off the cuff.  She has been givin the typical range of anti-bedwetting treatments with little to no improvement.  At this time we have taken her off all medication after realizing that it was affecting her personality/attitude.  We are satisfied that she not doing this on purpose.  He mother did suffer from bedwetting issues until she was almost 12 herself.  My second daughter has no such issues.  Could this be related to perhaps petite mal seizures or perhaps an allergy?  We are out of options except for nerve damage of some kind.  If need be I can get back here with a more comprehensive log of tests and results.  We are stuck with medicare health insurance so I was hoping that if this was something more rare then bad health insurance is the reason that we have not been able to figure this out.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the young person has continuous leakage, then please consider a CT urogram to evaluate the kidneys and urinary collecting system. If this is normal, please ensure that she is having regular, daily bowel movements, and that she is not constipated. In addition, she should be emptying her bladder every 2-3 hours during waking hours. Often the bedwetting problems will resolve on their own as she gets older.
