hysterectomy incision never heals

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy over seven months ago.  My incision scar has not healed.  It develops "puss pockets" which drain and bleed frequently.  Antiobiotics have already been tried.

At 7 months, a nonhealed scar is not normal. The scar may need to be opened, explored and reclosed. Sometimes permanent sutures if used can become infected and need to be removed and the area cleared of nonhealing tissue, to allow for healing.  Ask your surgion about this option.

Another more serious possibility is that there is a fistula from bowel or bladder into the scar, which will result in a nonhealing scar. If this is the case, you will need treatment from a GI surgeon or Urologist, according to the source of the leak.
