BURNING MILKY SILICA LIKE SEDIMENT IN URINE and thats just the start !

by baffled and battling, Dec 15, 2003 12:00AM
!41 YEARS OLD AND 16 years of the same set of symptoms which have been reducing in regularily over the years until recently QUESTION,Whats going on with my body? SYMPTOMS 1 Firstly gritty eyes for a week and a general feeling of acidity, for lack of better word

2 Urine progressively gets a darker yellow for 3/4 days

3 Then at the end of a urine stream a milky usually burning end stream. It isnt puss but rather like tiny SILICA flakes which settle pretty quickly in a sample tube ,dont seem to culture any bacteria so doctor wasnt very interested.

4 Then urine becomes totally clear for 4/5 days

5 Followed in 3/4 days by connective tissue inflamation,Yes I know its Reiters or Some thing similiar BUT what is this sediment and why the definate change in urine color?

EXTRAS.

1 sometimes suffer from mild prostatitis.

2 have taken lots of antibiotics over the years,

3 alcohol,I hardly drink, can bring on the process as can too

much juice or vitamin pills etc

4joints dont swell up and is BETTER in mornings and WORSE at

nights ,which is not typical, dont quote me on that !

SO THE BIG QUESTION IS WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE SYMPTOMS THAT ARE LEADING TO THE REACTION AND COULD IT BE A SEPERATE AND TREATABLE PRELUDE TO THE ACHES AND PAINS ? URIC ACID BUILD UP?

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TROUBLE TO READ THIS AND ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED.

There is a group of rheumatological diseases that can result in in these symptoms.  Reiter's syndrome typically presents as conjunctivitis, urethritis, and connective tissue syndromes (such as arthritis).  With your story and description, this is a diagnosis I would strongly consider and discuss with your personal physician.

I would suggest testing for infection - for instance gonorrhea and chlamydia for urethritis, and what is known as an HLA-B27 level.  80 percent of those with Reiter's syndrome are positive in this level.

I would suggest a referral to a rheumatologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
