lack of sensation during ejaculation

by wazu, Mar 09, 2004 12:00AM
I am 36 years old. 8 years ago, overnight, i lost most sensitivity during ejaculation. Prior to that, I contracted genital herpes. I remember one time prior to losing the sensation, that there was blood during an ejaculation.  However, i continued to experience no problems.  I believe within 7 months is when the problem began. I have no problems getting an erection or maintaining it throughout sex. I have some sensation until the very moment of ejaculating.  About 7 years ago, I had my prostate checked (when the insert the camera up the rectum right?)  And another test where they insert a camera into the penis.  During that test from what I remember they saw I believe a bit of scaring toward the bottom of the penis.  I had a sperm count taken and there is no problem there.  Nor is there a problem today when I ejaculate.  I don't know what a healthy amount of ejaculation is but i think it's fine.  I have seen about 5 urologist over the years, but have never been given an explanation other than it's in my head.  Well, let me tell you that one night the sensation was there and the next it was gone.  I firmly believe it is physical and I'm at a lost of what to do.  I really am desperate (it's been 8 years after all). If it's physically possible, there is nothing more I would like than to be sexually satisfied once again.  If not possible than I need to find out and have closure to this issue once and for all!!!! My mother's father had diabetes and I've never been checked.  Don't know if that's a possible cause, but I threw that in there just in case.  If there is a doctor in the US that you can recommend that would be fantastic.  However, right now I am living in Kuwait; but, if there is any way possible to recommend someone here that would be fantastic.  Please help!!! I am not sure that I have chosen the correct topic area.  If not please forward this to the appropriate area.  Thank you very much!!!

If you have been the 5 urologists, it is very likely that most of the urological diseases have been ruled out.  You note that you had a transrectal ultrasound and cystoscopy.  I would also make sure tests for prostatic secretions were performed, including analysis and culture.  Non-urological causes such as diabetes should also be evaluated for.

If every test is negative, you may want to inquire about a neurology referral to evaluate for any nerve damage.  Tests such as MRIs and electrodiagnostic testing may be considered.

It seems that most the physical issues (i.e. you are still able obtain erections) have already been evaluated for thoroughly.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
