Purple blotch on penis

by chgocurious, Jul 25, 2004 12:00AM
I recently developed a purple blotch under the skin on my penis about the size of a dime.  It's right where there is a blood vessle.  It almost looks like blood is leaking from the vessle.  It developed during sex while I had a rubber 'ring' on to enhance my erection.  (I've found at 46 years old, my erections aren't as firm as they used to be and fade petty fast.)  Will this go away?  Is there something I need to do to help it to heal?  There is no pain, but it looks really bad.

The story sounds like a small hematoma or a blood collection from a broken vessel (i.e. similar to a larger bruise).  Certainly the trauma of sex can lead to a disruption of the veins.

You can discuss this possibility with your personal physician.  If the symptoms do not improve, a penile ultrasound can be done for further investigation.  I would also avoid medications that can reduce clotting (i.e. Aleve, Motrin, Aspirin).

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
