Shriking Testicle

by paulantpat987687645354, Jul 01, 2005 12:00AM
Hi There,

I'm a 50 year old male, in good health. Over the last 5 or 6 years my left testicle has shrunk to about half the size of the other, they used to be the same size. It's not that the right one has increased in size, -as someone suggested. I 'm not taking any medication and I've not had any procedures in this area.

There has never been any pain in my testicles. A recent Ultrasound scan did confirm a smaller left side but also showed an adequate blood supply.

I suspect that I'm going to be told there is nothing wrong and there is no clear explanation for what has happend.

Do you think the testicle is likely to remain this size or continue to get smaller?

Yours sincerely

Difficult to comment about the size without examination.

The ultrasound is a good reasonable test, and can determine whether the blood supply to the testicle is adequate.  It can evaluate for any masses - such as cysts or cancers - which also can affect the testicle.

I would be evaluated for a testosterone level.  A low level can affect the size of the testicle.  If this is the case, some testicular supplementation can be considered.

This option can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
