Testicular Torsion

by sriyani, Aug 27, 2005 12:00AM
Recently (3mths ago) my son had the right testical removed due to testicular torsion. He is worried as he is unable to continue his body excercises (body building). Will he be able to do his normal excercises in the future. The Hospital suggested testicular prosthesis in 3 months time. Are there any after effects and other risks if this operation is carried out.

I am not aware of an inability to do normal exercises with a prosthesis.

Risks can include an adverse reaction to the implant.  About 1 in 30 patients may require another intervention for adjustment or modification.

Complications can include pain or discomfort (10%), swelling (3%) or migration or displacement of the prosthesis (2%).

These options should be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
