This is fairly interesting for those of you who would be receptive to such information:

Here is one quote about Weight loss clinic scams:

"Many clinics provide legitimate and valuable service to aid individuals wishing to lose weight however, some clinics use questionable methods. For example, many persons may be attracted to advertisements for weight–loss clinics that claim guaranteed or quick weight loss. Some clinics have combined reduced calorie diets with injections or pills of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) a hormone extracted from the urine of pregnant women. This hormone is purported to enable a person to lose weight without eating less. This method is not effective for permanent weight loss. In fact, FDA requires all labeling and advertising of HCG to state that it is not approved by the FDA as safe and effective in the treatment of obesity or weight control. Amphetamines, prescription drugs, have been used in some clinics. They have been found to be addictive and may contribute to problems of the central nervous system. Laxatives and diuretics have also been used by some clinics to reduce weight through elimination of water and body wastes. FDA recommends against their use for weight loss."

I have searched MedLine at the nearby medical school library and have found studies showing hCG helped build muscle, and helped increase fat loss.  I have also found studies that said there was no difference between the hCH group and the diet alone group.  I found another study that said the hCG group lost weight faster, but lost the same amount of weight overall as the diet only group. So, I don't think the bottom line is really known here, and it might really just all come down to our individual bodies and how they react to hCG.

I wish there was a magic bullet.  I'm desperately in need of a plan I will stick with.  But I recognize the problem is within me, and my inability to choose to keep at something that is hard for me.  I love to eat.  I love food.  I love the feeling I get when I have a nice meal and am full.  Its like a drug to me.

I know that when I truly choose to commit to a safe and sane program, I can do it.  But I'm not ready, obviously.  I have issues.  I just don't want to do it yet.

I'm not looking for a magic bullet. I am just looking for something to give me a boost. Even if the hCG is not what is helping, the shots have given me MUCH more energy. I am not yawning and looking forward to a nap after work. I am looking forward to going to the gym. hCG IS proven safe for use in humans.  It has been used for 50 years. It's just not proven to cause weight loss. However, it has not definitively proven NOT to be effective either.  The studies have had mixed results. That could depend on the individual or on the protocol used. I'll make up my mind about its effects for myself after I've had time to judge the results.

What kind of foods are you eating on a typical day?

by SueDonym, Mar 06, 2007 12:00AM
I am basiclaly doing the South Beach Diet. I go back and forth between phase one and two. Lean meats, lots of chicken, veggies, whole grains, etc.

"I Think" there are more risks involved in being obesed than being on the HCG or B12/lipo combo diet. If you surveyed both sides for side effects (obesed people vs. dieting w HCG/B12 people), you should come out to a conclusion that obesed people have a larger health risk involved. I have been on both sides of the situation. I was a t 195 & am currently at 155. I have kept it off for 1+ yrs. Thks

To: My two cents
Hello All,

Let me say at one point in my life I was a smoker and when I quit along with infertility meds I gained 50 lbs. For some reason I am still overweight all those pounds. I guess the fact that food taste better now is not an issue uh. Of course food does taste better and I eat at stress times to.  Anyway when I did smoke my Uncle, was telling me I should quit smoking, alot of bad health risk.  My uncle was overweight.  Well anyway, I felt he was more at risk then me and basically blew off what he had to say.  Well sadly he died from a heart attack... Weight can cause health issues.  It has for me since I quit smoking.  I have high cholestrol, I can't eat everything I would like to eat anymore, actually some foods make me feel bad... Being overweight, smoking, etc. both can cause health problems.  We need to support each others efforts here.  I enjoy reading what works for people.
The HCG does work for some people and others it don't.  I have tried it and for me if I don't watch how much I eat, the shots don't work.  The pills cramp me up and constipate me.  So, I tried it and I really wished I was one of you on here  - shouting out how much weight I lost....
good luck and please keep sharing everyone your successes. I am sure one of these plans along with changing my eating habits is going to work...

do any one know how to get hcg injection in atlanta ga....

by DrDoright, Mar 09, 2007 12:00AM
I tried the hcg a while ago and it didnt do anything for me at all. I guess all our bodies are different and s different things work for different people. After my best friend lost 40 pounds using nutrition shakes and supplements I thought well if she can then so can I. I used Herbalife, who have been around for years and I have had great success, better than anything I have tried previously and I've tried quite a few. I spoke to a man from myhealthabc.com who was very helpful and informative and I have now lost 32 pounds in 15 weeks. It may not be enough or quick enough for some people but I am more than pleased. Not only that My health in general is so much improved.  I am not missing the injections either. I think sometimes it just takes a while to find what is right for you and your body.
