Should I take Clomid?

| . | Hi,
We've been trying to conceive for 4 months now. The first three months I wasn't keeping track of whether or not I was ovulating, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't. The 4th month I kept track of my BBT and did ovulate. My doctor also had me take a blood test, which confirmed that I ovulated. She said that my progestrone level was low and thought it was OK for me to start Clomid for the 5th month (starting tomorrow). My question is is whether or not I should give it more time? Is it too soon to take Clomid? I've heard nothing but bad things about it. To be honest, if it doesn't work the first month I'm not going to keep taking it. So does that defeat the purpose?

| . | well. i knwo of a few poeple that took clomid and conceived.. Is it a waste of time..no .. you need to crawl before you walk especially when it comes to infertility. 1 month is not engouh. Just make sure to keep track of your ovulation. if the 1st dose of clomid does not work.. then they will increase it then put you on injectibles. If i has to chose between clomid and the repronex (injectibles) i would chose the repronex. ( and i have taken both) Clomid made me feel icky. the repronex did not have the fluctuations of side effects.. however.. it did give me other complications that were much harder to dealb with. I had a HOM. Quintuplets.. and only one of the 5 babies made it. WIth clomid that amount of babies is rare. SO weigh your options. My advise is take it one step at a time.. and see what happens. I hope this helps and best of luck to you. ALl i can say is infertilty was the most difficult thing i have ever been through but SOOOO worth it. Every time i look at my DS i think you were worth EVERY tear. and God has blessed us with you.
HAve a good one!! and God Bless!!

| . | Thank you for your help. After being on BC for the last ten years I was excited to have my body free of "stuff", but I know it will all be worth it! |

Most doctors will not prescribe a fertility drug like Clomid until you have been trying for a year. For a large percentage, it does take some time to become pregnant. People ovulate at different times, cycles vary in length. 4 months is nothing. I would try to relax and have fun trying. |

| . | I thought it was too early to be taking it. It probably can't hurt, but my cycles seem to be working themselves the longer I've been off BC. Since I think this last month was the first time I ovulated since TTC I think I should let my body take it's natural course before taking a infertility drug. It's too early to even determine whether or not I'm fertile. Thanks for your help! |
