Rates of alcohol metabolism

by Hinesh, Dec 12, 1999 12:00AM
In reference to the posts about effects of drinking on Asians:

I have heard that different races metabolise alcohol at different rates to those used in the compilation of "units" measurements for alcohol content. If a Caucasian liver removes 1 unit (10mls pure) of alcohol in one hour, what fraction of a unit does an Indian/South Asian liver remove? Or, alternatively, do you know how much longer it takes an Asian liver to remove one unit of alcohol? Please help, as this would be extremely useful.
