Cocaine in the blood stream

by Bagnal, Jan 20, 2000 12:00AM
Can you give me an approximate length of time that cocaine will show up in an individual's blood stream?  For example, If an individual used cocaine 8-9 months ago, is there a possibility that it could show up now in a drug test?  Thanks for your help.

How long does cocaine stay in your hair? What can be done to remove it?

by RS,EdD,HVMA, Jan 21, 2000 12:00AM
Cocaine is detectable by urinalysis for roughly 24 to 48 hours.

by nicky, Jan 22, 2000 12:00AM
It's true what was posted as your anwser, cocain only shows up for 24-48 hrs.  Having been in a half way house where they did ramdom checking I know this to be true.  You won't have any problems with your insurance, Good Luck

cocaine stays in your system for 2 to 3 days, and is detectable in urine for the same amount of time.  drink lots of water, 10 to 14 cups per day..  you will pee a lot.

I am a cocaine addict (snorting) and have been trying for three years to stop.IT has been a very hard thing to stop because it is a mental addiction.Even when I try not to think about it ,some how i do.When trying to stop you have to change everything even the things you dont want to change. I have put together months at a time away from it but always relapse after a while. I know I want to stop and have tried A/A  and N/A. I  also have been in programs and all these things have not worked so far,my question is what else can I do? I am getting very tired  of going to all these programs. I want to go back to school and i am starting to do healthy things,I think I need to stop focusing so much on this drug and start to focus on getting my life in order. Maybe i am putting myself on ,thinking this will help but I have to start doing something different. Can you please give me you opinion?    Thanks, Annmarie

What does coke do to your body after a long time?

by pete, Feb 04, 2000 12:00AM
Annemarie..  Hello. i to am an addict.  snorting.  i have been using for one year.  3/4 to 1 gram a day now, almost every day.  I thought about going to meetings, but i would **** if i knew someone there.  i also, want to stop.  Actually, i did it for a year between 16 and 17.  wild teen, but stopped cold turkey...  I didn't even see it again until i turned thirty.  now 31, a year later, i,m back. i dont know why.  Maybe i'm not happy in my marriage or something.  I've only been married 1 1/2 years.  I know this stuff is bad, and i know that i'm a strong willed person.  I could quit if i really wanted.  But, i guess i dont really want to cause i'm a loser and still doing it.  Anyway, how much do you do and how often.  How does it make you feel.  it definitly doesnt make me feel like it used to.  my nose is always clogged.  and it doesnt make me feel confident when i do it.  it either exhausts me or makes me quiet.  and on top of that it makes me have racing thoughts... about everything..Im slacking at work, marriage, friendships, everything.  I used to work out.  no more.  It is really hard to try and change.  the easy thing to do is always fall back and say fuckit, i'll get a buzz... this is definitly not me.. lifting weights was my life.. so was making money and earning respect and admiration.  I have lost all three, not to say my drive for sex.  only with myself lately..  hopefully i have not overwhelmed you with all of this.. and you will want to write back..  i check almost daily..  hope to hear from you.

best wishes...

Hi, I've been thinking of trying cocain for the first time, I was wondering about its addictive properties, I was also wondering if it would interfere with the medication that I take now, which is Effexor an antidepressant

by PETE TO STACY, Feb 29, 2000 12:00AM
STACY... DO NOT DO IT!!!!! you are on the med for a reason..  cocaine is a very shortlived high.  believe me it is not worth it.  it is expensive, and will definitly affect your med from working.  simply by making you eventually skipping your dose, and not eating right.  please,  try to explore other avenues for exitement...  i am doing my best to quit this ****...  i started lifting weights again, which is a big step for me and the adrenaline rush i get from that is as close to happiness as i have been in a while...  even sex is better.  i hope its not too late, and perhaps even if you have already tried it, you didnt like it.  there have been two people i know who went to the hospital the FIRST TIME they ever tried it...  BESIDES, COCAINE CAUSES ANXIETY, YOU DONT NEED TO BE DEPRESSED AND ANXIOUS DO YOU?

Okay Annemarie, I could have written your letter - same amount of time, same school goals, same frustrations. At least for me, when I'm not doing blow, I remember it as being much more fun that it actually was. I've been scouring the web for the past few days trying to find some reasonable way to deal, and one thing I found was Rational Recovery (www.rational.org/recovery). The site has kind of a goofy setup and they're really opposed to any 12-step program, but it definitely has some good ideas about personal strength in overcoming addictions. I hope this is the sort of info you were looking for. Tina

STACY - My boyfriend takes Lithium for depression and coke totally screws up any benefit he gets from it. You would probably love cocaine because the high is so great compared to taking an antidepressant at first. Please, please, please don't do it. It's just that much harder to have any meds work for you normally, and coke makes depression a lot worse. If Effexor isn't working as well as you think it should, talk to your doctor about your prescription. I've witnessed my boyfriend in extreme pain (worse than before he started taking Lithium) because of the antidepressant-cocaine combo. Please don't even risk it. Tina

I messed around with some cocaine nine days ago.  I actually snorted what would fit under my nail into my nostrils twice.  before that I had never done it.  I just started a great job and found out that I have to take a drug test in a couple of days.  Do I need to buy a cleansing product or am I okay.  I could kick myself because I didn't want to do it and didn't even like it!

Thanks!

What are symtoms of cocaine withdrawls?

by 4ford, May 07, 2000 12:00AM
I AM A 24 YEAR OLD MALE, WHO HAS BEEN USING DRUGS SINCE MY EARLY

TEENS.  FROM THE AGE OF 18-23, I was drug free(COMPLETED A TREATMENT PROGRAM).  I am also diagnosed with a bipolar disorder, for which I take zoloft and two other medications. This past    weekend, I bought crack ($600.00) and binged. I ALWAYS FEEL

DEPRESSED AND ANXIOUS. Are there treatment programs for people

who have dual disorders?  I work but I don't have any medical

insurance.

I wanted to know if there was a good medication for staying off cocain. I have quit for about 1 month now which I am finding very hard. I get very depressed and find it hard to get modivated to do things, which i never had a problem with before.I also wanted to know if cocain effects the blatter or prostate gland which i have problems with now. I am 32 years old and hope life will get better if i stay off the coke.

A question was asked about how long cocaine stays in the blood but was answered by how long it stays in the urine. Could I please see the question answered properly.

by Mark, Oct 09, 2000 12:00AM
Cocaine is by far the worst dependency drug to do. It is by far a mental addiction, I would consider never ever trying this drug, it should be called the white devil because that is what it is...
