quit smoking

by Anders, Mar 05, 2000 12:00AM
Hi, I'm 34, have smoked cigarettes for 16 years and quit now that my wife is pregnant. I have not smoked for 2,5 weeks, and use nicitine chewing gum only sometimes, not even every day. I used to smoke about 15 a day.

Now I'm experiencing a lump in the throat, on and of. It seems like talking make it worse when it's there, but it does not appear from talking. It's a feeling of something being swollen or enlarged. I have no problem swallowing food or water, on the contrary, cool water soots the problem some.

I have read some about globus hystericus, but I do not believe to be more stressed now than usual.

What is it? What can I do to get rid of this very annoying problem?

Sincerely

Anders

I'm not a medical expert but it would appear logical to myself if you made a visit to your doctor and share with him the symptoms you are having.  Everyone knows there is a risk of cancer with smoking.  Have it checked out, it's better to be safe than sorry, who knows maybe it's a simple problem that your doctor might be able to help you with.  I know it's hard to quit smoking, you deserve a pat on the back! Way to go, everyone benefits when someone stops smoking.
