HYDROCODONE

by KIDO MAN, Dec 01, 2001 12:00AM
I have been taking Loritab 10/500 for 3 years everyday. I am trying to get off of them. What gradual reduction in the medicine do you recommend. Also, over how long of a period. I cannot afford to take off of work to go to rehab. Is there any medicine (non-addictive) that will make it easier. I quit using cocaine over ten years ago without a problem. I just quit one day. This is different. I hurt while I am trying to quit. I really need help with this... I am 41 years old and train in the gym everyday since I was 13 years old. PLEASE HELP.

Welcome to the Forum, Kido.  You'll get lots of great advise and encouragement here.  First, how many of Lortab 10's are you taking a day?  That will help some of the more knowledgable people on the forum give you some good advise. Your at the right place.   Durty

kido, I started taking a few htdrocodone a day and within 3 years it was just like you, 15 a day. Finally I went to an outpatient program which treated me with buprenorphine for 4 days. I did not suffer any side effects or withdrawal. I feel like a new man now. You should look into it.

I have not been doing all that great,  somewhat better but still not clean.  My question is, how long does Hydrocodone and Oxycotin show up on a blood and/or urine drug screen?  Need the real deal on this, looks like I might get hit this week and I need to prepare if i can.  love to all, Telby

On second thought this subject of drug testing may not be too kosher for this forum.  I have been pointed in the right direction and feel much better.  I don't want to bring up a topic that could create concern.  So, I'll write about my usual drug addicted world and let you all know how the drug test tomorrow (gulp) turns out.  love, Telby

Go to the site listed above by Francoise.  You will find people who are willing to share their experiences and help in any way they can.   Consulting a physician is the obvious but as we all know not always the way we are able to go.  Durty

if you you're still looking for the recipe, I will send it to you directly. One thing, though, it's a recipe for going cold turkey off the hydro and assumes you've got a few days of down time to weather the first few days. It's not something a busy executive can do in between meetings. I only say this because I get the impression that you are, like most of us lately, fairly wrapped up in the ole job-o-rama. Sometimes you've got to get off that merrygoround to give yourself the care and healing you need. Anyway, you can write me at ***@**** or go to the forum link my good friend Francoise posted for you. The recipe is featured there for all who need it. Good luck.

Thomas

P.S. Those 10/500's are pretty nifty, hugh? Kinda fond of them myself ...

Loratab 10/450

To come down easy I start with 10 tabs.

3 on day 1,

2 on day 2,

2 day 3,

1/2 when I feel bad day 4/5/6.

Cold Turkey:

I stay in bed the first 3 days. I am on disability so I don't

have to work. Every bone in my body and every hair on my body

hurts, cold sweats, chills, no sleep for 3 days. It's the

hardes but, it's the fastest for me.

I was taking lortab for 18 months. After withdrawaling for 5 days,I couldn't do it.I went on methodone for a week. They increased my dosage every day so I stopped that too.Now I'm 15 days off and sinking into heavy depression. The dr that prescribed them wrote me off when I told him I needed to stop.My energy level is so low I have a hard time going grocery shopping. Tonight I'm going to n.a..I can't do this much longer

I, as a 6 year perscription pill abuser would like to report an unexpected success in the area of self-treatment.  I have found success in recovery with the use of clonidine.  I have found that after a relapse one can actually forgoe 95% of the pain of withdrawl by careful use of clonidine.  I usually will take two 0.1mg tablets before bed, leaving two additional tablets by the bedside.  When withdrawl is in full effect a patient/abuser can rarely expect more than 4-5 hours of uninterupted sleep.  When I wake, I quickly take the two other  clonidine tablets and wait to fall back to sleep.  In addition my doctor has me using the Anti-depressent/Sleep medication Trazadone.  Using this method one can expect to get 6-8 hours of sleep or more.  Also, by maintaining clonidine in the blood supply one tablet every 6 hours while awake will have the effects of keeping muscle spasms to almost nothing.  I have found that by keeping the physical symptoms to a minimum, the focus becomes the inherent depression one feels during withdrawl.  I keep my mood up by watching fun entertaining movies and eating "comfort foods".  NOTE TO EVERYONE: If an patient/abuser is taking powerful doses of dangerous narcotics in large quantities this method does not help.  This method is useful to pain-management patients and pill abusers that use between 1 darvocet (very weak) per day to 2 percocet (very strong) four times a day for long periods of time.  This method has the best effect for patients/abusers using hydrocodone 5/500mg three times per day.

Many doctors I have spoken with feel that an abuser should feel the pain of withdrawl so they are relunctent to make the same mistake twice.  I understand the logic in this, but I can't help but feel this information would benefit doctors that have patients that become addicted through no fault of there own.

PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW A LITLE ABOUT YOU. You WOULD BE amazed at the resources out there, WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT,Hang in there, help is right around the corner!!!! Promise!   Karen

Hi there, 2nd day of detox. My doctor set me up so I feel virtually no discomfort. The regular aches and pains, Blah, Blah, Blah. If you want to e-mail me please do: ***@****. I can help any way I can. I found a ton of vitamins not mentioned in the recipe that could help. I look forward to getting mail from you. Write back, and remember, you are not alone.   Love and Peace, Karen
