Posted by Rob Shoff on April 29, 1999 at 21:41:15 I'm a 44 year old white male. 5 years ago i underwent open heart surgery to have my aortic valve replaced with a St. Jude mechanical valve. I contracted endocarditis when I was 38 which damaged my arortic valve. I was very active in sports my entire life until the endocarditis. Since the surgery i've been continually fatigue, to the point I can do very little physical activity without it affecting me the rest of the day. I was told I notice the DIFFERENCE in stamina because i was so young and active before the surgery. I'm 44 years old but feel like i'm 74. I have had no problems with taking coumadin. My INR hasn't changed much in the last year. I haven't had my dosage changed. Is this CONSTANT fatigue normal and just something I'm going to have to deal with or is there a possible solution to my condition? Thank-you for your time... Rob

I suggest that you see your physician for a complete reevaluation at this point, because there may be some metabolic cause for your fatigue that could be determined.
