Would you be so kind as to tell me what this word might be from the following text? "Fetal electrocardiogram at 19 weeks' gestation showed a single active fetus with a normal rhythm at 147 beats per minute. There was normal atrial and ventricular .... There were four normal-size chambers and valves. The great arteries were normally related. There were no effusions.

The word in question sounds like size or sinus. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dear Laura,
Sinus is often a word used in commenting on the heart rhythm, i.e. normal sinus rhythm. It implies that the heart beat originates in the sinus node where is should originate. The information you state above sounds like comments on an electrocardiogram and an echocardiogram; as well it all sounds normal. It is a bit unclear what your question is exactly, especially given the report you give above sounds very normal.

I hope you find this information useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for general
purposes only. Specific diagnoses and advice can only be provided by your physician. However,
please feel free to write back with additional questions.
