Question Title: Cosgrove Ring

My wife recently underwent a successful mitral valve repair and the surgery report indicates that a device referred to as a "Cosgrove ring" was inserted. We've been unable to find any literature describing this device on the Web. Can you help?

Dear Bill,

Thank you for for questions. You have come to the right place. The Cosgrove ring was developed by the Chief of Cardiac Surgery here at CCF, Dr. Delos M. Cosgrove. It is a small ring that provides structure to the mitral annulus ( the circular area to which the delicate mitral valves and apparatus attach) and assists in repairing the valve. It is a small pliable prosthesis that is routinely use in the repair of valves.

I hope this has been useful. I wish you and your wife the best of luck. Feel free to write back.

Information provided here is for general purposes only. Specific questions should be addressed to your own doctor. If you
