I have been on Lanoxin for a couple of years after being diagnosed with atrial flutter and MVP. I also recently had a partial hysterectomy (not ovaries) because of constant anemia (hmgl stayed around 8), now my hair is falling out, epecially after washing. My bathroom floor stays covered and I can reach back and pull out a handful of loose hair. I'm 36 years old and otherwise healthy. Can this be caused by the Lanoxin and or the anesthesia? (even though I was anemic this was not happening previously). Thanks for your help.

Dear Jan

Neither lanoxin nor anesthesia should cause this hair loss. It might be worthwhile to have your thyroid function tested.

I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
