Posted by Lynda on August 02, 1999 at 13:29:53 I have a St. Jude Heart Valve replacement for my mitral valve. I am taking Lanoxin, Verelan, Coumadin. I have some concern about taking lanoxin and verelan combination. One pharmacist refused to fill the perscription combination, although I had taken it for two months. My cardiologist stated that there was not a problem with taking this combination, but I still have this worry in the back of my mind. I can't find any contradictions. Can you help?
Posted by CCF CARDIO MD - DLB on August 02, 1999 at 16:21:40 Dear Lynda I have had patients on that combination of medications. Your doctor just needs to make sure that you are not on too much digoxin (Lanoxin), as Verelan can raise the digoxin level. I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back. Information provided here is for general purposes only. Specific questions should be addressed to your own doctor. If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at www.ccf.org/heartcenter.
