Subject: Re: Ectopic Heartbeat? I was diagnosed with "an extra" heartbeat in 1996. I was told to do jumping jacks to alleviate it. How ridiculous. Needless to say it didn't work. This problem happens when you are at rest not active. They insist on testing you whiles your heartrate is up and that's not when it starts. It's the resting heart that needs to be studied. Now it's two yrs. later and I'm having a burning, heavy sensation in my chest and slight pain in my shoulder. Will I be taken seriously when I go to see my Dr.? Most likely not. How sad that women too die of MI's and it isn't recongnised by the AMA. What must we do? Debra
I would urge you strongly to seek medical advice about these symptoms. If your doctor does not take your complaints seriously then seek a second opinion. It is now well know that women are at just as much risk of having heart attacks as men and the majority of the medical community is aware of this fact. Good luck.
