Question Title: Constant WeaknessForum: The Heart Forum
| |
Hello. I am 16 years old, and for the past several weeks, I have been feeling really dizzy and weak (mainly when I stand up and walk around). I have also has this pain in the center of my chest (breastbone), which felt like a burning sensation. I have had a history of stress related problems like anxiety/nervousness due to some stressful events in my life, and I was wondering if the weak sensations I have been experiencing have come from stress. May I add that when I walk, my heart rate is very rapid, and it will usually slow down when I stop walking around. Usually the rapid heartrate makes me loose my appetite and makes me feel a hundred pounds heavier. Are these problems I described to you normal for a 16 year-old boy to experience, who has never had a history of any heart trouble, or is it all stress-related? Thank you for your help. Todd
_____ Dear Todd, Topic Area: Tachycardia Thank you for your question. Stress certainly can cause a variety of symptoms. It’s hard for me to say if what you have been experiencing is due to stress or something else. I would recommend that you see your doctor and discuss this with him/her.
