Recently I recieved a blood test. A friend had it done and recommended that I have one done as well. I talked to an old doctor friend who is about 88yrs old and he called the hospital and set it up. My tiglyceride reading was 1230. Normal is 300. I had not eaten in 24 hrs. I then repeated the test and it read 1185. My old doctor who is now retired did not adress this. Should I be alarmed or have the test read by a physician. The test daid my LDL and HDL would not be read accurate because my triglicerydes were so high. Any advice?

Dear Phil

It sounds like your doctor has run all the heart tests that I would have suggested. Stress can cause almost any type of symptom, but I would never tell someone I haven't examined personally that their symptoms are just due to stress.

The numbness in your fingers and the head pressure are concerning. I would recommend seeing a neurologist (a specialist in brain and nerve disorders). He would be able to rule out any serious brain disorder and may be able to shed some light on the situation.

I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.

If you would like to set up an appointment with one of our cardiologists here at the Cleveland Clinic please feel free to call 1-800-CCF-CARE.
