Question Title: Atrial fibrillation & marijuana use

Forum: The Heart Forum
Topic: Arrhythmia

Is there any research on frequent marijuana use and atrial fibrillation.
We would like to know any correlation. It seems like marijuana only affects the lungs, however if it is a hazard to the heart beat, we'd like to know. The person is 50 years old and is an otherwise healthy person. Tahnk you.
Thank you.

Dear Concerned

Current marijuana use can definitely cause or contribute to arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. Marijuana is bad for the heart, as well as the lungs.

I hope this is useful. Good luck. Feel free to write back with further questions.
