I have recently been diagnosed with Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. During 24 heart monitoring my heart rate while sleeping never got below 107bpm and usual daily activity keeps me around 130-180bpm. I do not usually excercise since I quickly become light headed and short of breath. I also have hypertension. It was recommended to me to look for an Electrophysiologist but I live in a small town and that has proved to be quite difficult. Also, I am not familiar with the procedure involves. Can you please tell me what the consequences would be if this condition was left untreated or how long could it be left untreated?

Thank you for your reply,
Rebecca

Dear Rebecca

You should make an appointment to see a cardiac electrophysiologist at a large medical center reasonably soon. This would be to first make sure what your diagnosis really is. Second, if you do have inappropriate sinus tachycardia, there are procedures to possibly cure it. If left untreated, if this is what you really have, it could lead to heart failure.

I hope this has been useful. Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck.
