Question Title: Chest FluttersForum: The Heart Forum
| |
I am a 30 year old female with a heart murmer. For the past 2 years I've been experiencing a sort of flutter in my chest that feels like I got the wind knocked out of me. It is very uncomfortable. I went to see an internist that specializes in cardiology. He took a chest xray, did an Electrocardiogram and took a blood test that checked my thyroid. Everything came back negative. He said it was caused by the acid in my stomache brought on by a combination of stress, coffee and eating gassy vegetables. I cut down my coffee drinking, from 1 cup a day to 1 cup a week, I try not to eat gassy vegetables, but I still have a little stress. I still have these fluttery feelings sometimes. Is this something I should really worry about or is this a normal side effect of a heart murmer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your question. Heart murmurs by themselves do not cause symptoms. They can sometimes lead to changes in the heart that can precipitate heart arrhythmias. I would suggest checking back with your doctor and letting him know of your symptoms. He may want to do some more testing. I hope you find this information useful.
