Subject: Re: Dizzyness/Lightheaded/Vertigo?/Arrythmias? Hello, I am a white male who is 21 years of age. I have always been skinny/underweight. I am 6'2" and weigh 145 pounds....I am not sure if that is an unhealthy weight are not? I never had problems throughout high school being an active basketball player for the school team. I am now in college and for the past year are so I have been inactive, and now I am not in the kind of shape it takes to play sports. Getting down to my problem.....for the past year I have been having random dizzy/lightheaded spells that occur 1-4 times a week. I get them during many different activities. (Before/During/After playing basketball, in the middle of my college classes, "after eating food" I notice sometimes I get really Lightheaded/dizzy after eating meals sometimes, when i get nervous/anxious it happens a lot. Ex: I will be in the middle of class and all of a sudden the lightheadedness just comes over me....and I notice my heart starts beating fast and hard...sweaty palms...so bad sometimes I have to leave the room, these are all different versions of how/when I get lightheaded/dizzy and in different varying degrees ranging from mild to somewhat severe). I have been spending a lot of my time playing computer games non stop for hours at a time. Not sure if that is important in contributing to my health (Still doesn't make person fell so lightheaded), but I wanted to make u aware that I have been lazy. When I get Lightheaded/Dizzy I get REALLY WEAK!!, my body gets the shakes, I will notice my hand shaking etc. It seems to go away when I come home and lay down and relax. My mother just informed me that I am going to the doctors next week. Any ideas on what my problem could be (Vertigo, Heart problems, arrythmias, Nervous Disorder, Possibly just need to get in shape, Nothing?) Please help me with any ideas that come to mind. I am really worried about this and I want to find out what is going wrong with me and even more important what it will take to go about getting it fixed. I greatly appreciate you help!! James King Dear James All the diagnoses you mention are possibilities. I would want to first make sure that you are not having any arrhythmias. I would also want to do tests to ensure that your heart is structurally normal. If all those tests came back normal, I would then recommend evaluation for vertigo and anxiety disorders. I hope this has been useful. Good luck. Information provided here is for general educational purposes only. Only your doctor can provide specific diagnoses and treatments.
