Question Title: Heart Palpitations Cause Heart Problems?Forum: The Heart Forum
| |
Hello....I drink alot of Diet Pepsi daily...Like 4 maybe a day...I'm really not sure what Heart Palpitations are, but every once in a while I get this pain in my chest where it only last a few seconds and then goes away..Like I said it only happens once in awhile, not all the time...Is it Heart Palpitations or can it be like gas or something? When the pain occurs it does hurt when I try to breath, so maybe it is...Also, if it is Heart Plaipations does this mean I have heart problems or does it mean I will have a heart attack in the future? All information will be helpful..Thanks..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Caffeine can cause or worsen palpitations, so you should cut back. Palpitations are usually due to extra heart beats. Most of the time, in young healthy people this is not a sign of anything serious. Sometimes, though, palpitations can be a sign of serious underlying heart disease. Even more uncommonly, they can be a sign of a future heart attack. Regarding your symptoms, it is difficult for me to say whether the pains are due to gas, palpitations or something more serious. It would be best for you to see your primary doctor and have these concerns addressed. I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
