Question Title: Responce in regards to Intermittant SVT post!Forum: The Heart Forum
| |
Thank you so much for your medical opinion in regards to my halter monitor. your right your response was quick and thorough. I wanted to ask this question. If my halter monitor results were normal would that indicate that i could go on taking over the counter decongestants and other medications that have a tendency to increase your heart rate. Also, would that mean that even though I might have a higher pulse than maybe someone else is my heart just as healthy as the next person. That I could do anything that a person with a regular pulse could do. i guess what I am getting at is that because I am overweight. (About 5'3 and 145 pounds). Not much but would like to take off about 10 to 12 so that I could fit into my clothes again LOL) would it be okay to take medications like AM 300 and adipex to help get it off. Any help you could give would be appreciated. I can't seem to look back on what I have already typed so I apologies if I kinda skipped around a bit. Is there a way to review your post before you send it. Thanks again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your question. The Holter monitor test is a good test to exam the hearts rhythm. It does not give other information about the heart such as function and valves. Of course you must check with your doctor regarding specific drugs for you but in general I do not recommend the over-the-counter diet pills to my patients. Give yourself a good 6 months to a year with a regular exercise program and healthy eating befor resorting to drugs to help with weight loss. Good luck. I hope you find this information useful.
