My history is long with numerous bouts of SVT.  My rate has gone as high as 240, but usually will stop without injection.  I've been under the care of my Cardiologist for over 20 years.  First for palpitations and arrythmia.  Then I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse with some regurgitation.  Also, a small defect at the top of my heart where there is three branches I have two.  I have had numerous echo's, ekg's, stress test's and different types of medication to control these problems.

I have an appointment today with my doctor to get results from my heart cath.  I will be making an appointment with the Cleveland Clinic ASAP, because I need answers.  I am always tired, and lately feel weak.  I am concerned because when I was admitted with SVT last week the ER doctor told me that my ekg showed I was not getting enough blood and oxygen to my heart.

It was the first time I had felt so ill and experienced such severe chest pain.  I hope this gives you the added details you requested.  Please let me know if you need any other details. Thank you.

Dear Joan,

Thank you for your additional information.  It sound as though you may have a slightly different coronary anatomy than usual. ( The three branches instead of two) Very often, people do not have three large branches of their coronary arteries, but rather may have all coming off the left main artery.  This may be your case.  This may also be the cause for the lack o fblood flow to certain areas of your heart during your SVT.

In your case the episode of SVT was a "stress test" which revealed some changes.  A heart catheterization should sort this out.

please provide me with additional information.  I have done my best to determine what the top of your heart and branches are, but may have misinterpreted the information given.

let me know how your catheterization goes.
