Atenolol

by Marty W. Little, Sep 07, 1999 12:00AM

Hi,

I was put on atenolol in October of 98' for palpitations. I could never take but 1\4 of a 25 miligram pill a day. My pulse rate seems to stay in the high 40s and low fifties at rest, even on the 1\4 pill. It does go up with exercise. Have had normal nuclear stress test.Normal echo. However, a couple of days ago did not take the med and noticed a ton of palpitations. Could just this small amount of atenolol make a difference in palps? What if any are the long term effects of taking this drug? I also have sever panic attacks. I a m a female 47. Don't smoke, consume caffiene, or drink.

There are no known long term side effects. Even the very small dose can have a positive effect.
