Atrial Fibulation/pacemaker/medication

by Greg, Sep 12, 1999 12:00AM
I had a  ablation/pacemaker (vigor dual chamberII) implanted in March of 98. I recently went to a well known hospital and the electropsyiologist told me that the ablation was given to not stop AF, but to make it so I would not feel it. He ran an echogram and a pacemaker check.  He told me the only thing I had to worry about was stroke.  He told me to stick to my coumadin and when the Rythmol quick working then get completely off of medication.  He told me there was nothing that I could not do. I asked him about stress both physical and mental. He told me it would not hurt, but help.  I began exercising on my areodyne bike and noticed that the last three days when I rode it at 30/minutes

I woke in the middle of the night with AF ( I could feel it).  I took my stephoscope and I was in pacing rhythum.  After getting up a little while I went back into sinus. Do you think this is something I should let him know?  And is it okay to just let my pacemaker take over when I am in atrial fib. He told me I had been going in and out of sinus and pacing quite a bit. He also said the echocardiogram showed me pumping at full capacity and no structural damage. I am wanting to go back to work,

I agree with everything your doctor has told you. I think exercising is important to your overall health. You should let him know that you went into afib, as he may want to adjust your medications. When you are in afib, the pacemaker is supposed to take over (after an ablation). As long as you are on coumadin,
