Echocardiogram Report

by Marjorie Edmonds, Oct 16, 1999 12:00AM
I had pericarditis in January.  In July I had a repeat echo.  I was told I had no problem.  I just asked for a copy of the report and this is what it said:

RVID(ED)  14

LVID(ED)  43

LVID(ES)  25

IVS(ED)   11

LVPW(ED)  32

LA(ES)    29

AORTA     18

Ejection Fraction (Simpson's)  60-70%

Echocardiography is technically difficult.  No abnormality of wall motion is identified.  Left ventricular ejection is estimated at 60-70%.  Chamber sizes are normal.  There is borderline concentric left ventricular hypertrophy.  Left ventricular filling wave is elevated.

Impression:  Normal L ventricular chamber sizes, wall motion and systolic function.  Echo evidence of diastolic disfunction.  No pericardial effusion.  Improved when compared to 1/11/99.

Do I have anything to worry about?  Thx.

The test seems fairly normal other than some findings consistent with either the effects of high blood pressure or older age.
