mitral valve reoperation

by tefera, Oct 22, 1999 12:00AM
I am 30 years old and am an ethiopian citizen.

i got a prosthetic mitral valve in 1994 in germany. I am still living in germany.

i want to ask you whether it is possible to have such a mitral valve surgery in ethiopia and how much are the risk factors for endocarditis there?

Honestly, I do not much about the state of medicine and surgery in Ethiopia. I am not personally aware of any heart surgery centers there, and thus would not recommend surgery in your homeland. The risk of endocarditis around the time of surgery is linked closely to the level of expertise of the surgical team. If you need repeat surgery, I would suggest having it done in Germany.
