Medication

I am presently on 20mg of Zocor once a day and have 2 questions about this medication.

- As your body chemistry changes with age can the beneficial effect of this medication decline?

- I have heard that Zocor can have a negative effect on your liver requiring you to have a liver function test done at least once every 6 months. Is this true?

Thanks for your help and keep up the great work.

Studies have shown that this drug is equally effective in young and older individuals.  There are some risks of increased liver enzymes and these should be checked every couple of months the first year and then annually thereafter.
