Pump Run Time and Emotions following open heart surgery

by Jon, Oct 29, 1999 12:00AM
Why does the length of pump run have an affect on personality, emotions, etc.?

The longer the brain is on the heart-lung machine the greater the risk of a small blood clot or area of ischemia to develop.

I had bypass surgery in 1979,diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy in 1989,but when I look back there were obvious symptoms signs of pn occuring 6months after operation.I have asked various doctors, and I have been told that there were underlying signs prior to op.Would you agree with this.
