I am a 42 year old female and just recently had a cardiolite stress done (went 10 minuites without pain or changes in EKG) and the Dr. said it was negative though it stated that the left ventricle wall was thickened throughout. Then I had an Echo, which is normal. He said that I probably had GERD and wants to try me on Prevacid which I started last Friday without relief. My question is: Could this still be cardiac or do I need to see a GI dr. My total cholesterol was 215,Trig was 51, HDL 78, LDL 127 and my ratio was 1.6. Are these good lab figures? I do not have high blood pressure but I do have heart disease in my family although no one has gotten it at a young age. I appreciate your opinion. Sometimes the pain just gets so bad.

Dear Denise, based on your echo results, it is unlikely that this pain is cardiac. You should look into other potential cuases such as GERD.
As far as your risk factors for heart disease your cholesterol levels are all normal and your HDL cholesterol the protective cholesterol is very high and this protects you from heart disease.
As far as family history this is less of an issue assuming that all memebers of your family had heart disease at an age greater than 50 or so.

I am 31 and also had a cardiolite stress test and echo both were normal, even though a few of my ekgs weren't! My doctor seems to think that it is GERD, and he says that I have a hietal hernia also. I was on prosleic(misspelled) and it didn't help me. Heart disease runs in my family too. So I am looking forward to seeing what the doctor says whether he thinks it is cardio or GI.
One other quick question, Sometimes when I get these pains in my chest I have to go to the bathroom, and pass gas too, can these be related? One last question, can you have a heart attack even if your heart checks out okay on the tests, if you get mad. If so can you explain how? Thanks
As far as urinaton or bowel gas along with this pain, this is likely not related to your heart.
