Would you please tell me: 1. What a normal aortic root measurement is?  2a. What left ventricular systolic function is? b. What would the normal % for that be?  3. Is trivial and mild regurg. the same?

Thank you.

by CCF CARDIO MD - CRC, Dec 29, 1999 12:00AM
1. What a normal aortic root measurement is?

A: 2.5 to 4 cm

2a. What left ventricular systolic function

is? b. What would the normal % for that be?

A: The left ventricular function refers to how well the heart is pumping and normal is approximately 50-65%

3. Is trivial and mild regurg. the same?

A: Generally mild is a little bit worse than trivial.

What heart problems does an echo rule out?  Would it show MVP?

I don't know what to think... I see my name with a posting under my original, date 12/31 and I am neither 50 or male.  Is your name truly jan?  I have heard in Europe jan is a man's name.  If not please do not use my name, I bother the dr.s enough.  Thank you.   :o)

How bad is Moderate Triscupid, and moderate pulmonic insuffiency.

What does this mean, also mild mitrial valve insufficiency?

by Carol, Jan 15, 2000 12:00AM
I have had 2 pulmonary emboli (Sept and Nov 99. As a result my echogram was not normal showing a L ventricular ejection fraction of approx 45%, mod tricuspid insuff and mild mitral insufficency.  On the repeat echo done end of Dec there was no change.  Questions?  1. Was the echo repeated too soon.  2.  Can I improve my condition with medication and how can I do this?

To all who posted above, the dr.'s only answer the original questions now because of lack of funding.  You can read that under 1/6 TO ALL FORUM...  Good luck, they only take one new question a day.  :o(

I am a 37 year-old female that had injections of Lupron-depo a few years ago for hemorrhaging  After receiving these injections, I developed asthma and chest pain a year later. This past summer I went in to have an echo because I had erythema nodosum (which I have had numerous times over the past ten years) and I was having chest pain and night sweats.  The cardiologist that interpreted the echo called me at home and was concerned that I might have a disease called amylloidosis.  The cardiologist checked me out and said that I seemed to be doing ok, but that my echo lit up like a Christmas tree.  I have been diagnosed with a mild heart murmor as well as some mild regurgitation in the aortic and tri-cuspid valve.  I was told by my Cardiologist that I should have another Echo done and check back with him to see if there is any progression on this problem (in 3 months or so). I have not done this yet for lack of medical insurance.  I do intend to get this done again though.  Can you tell me what might cause something such as they saw on the Echo? The Cardiologist said that Amyloidosis was one thing that could cause this, but that there were several other things that can cause this as well.  I feel that he was somewhat evasive and I just want to know what can cause this.  When I had the procedure done, the technician went and retreived some other people to look at my echo. I was of course very concerned and they were reluctant to tell me anything other than that my echo was not something that they see very often and that in fact they've only seen something like it one other time. They told me that they "are generally not able to visualize echos this well at all and that they could see everything extremely well.   They were quick to say that I shouldn't worry about it and to follow up with my Dr. The Cardiologist told me that it is echogenicity of the myocardium.  What is that?  Thank you for your response!
