side effects of medicine

by wondering, Dec 10, 2000 12:00AM
I take 60mg inderal LA a day for tachyacardia and palpitations.  I have been on it for almost 3 years.  Off and on I experience joint pain and muscle aches that last for a few days and then go away. For the past couple of months the joint pain has occured a little more frequently.  I am 39 yrs. old.  Do you think this could be a side effect of the inderal, and if so is it something I should be concerned about?  There are alot of days I have no pain at all. Can you please suggest what you feel I should do.  I tolerate the inderal otherwise fairly well, so I hate to change medicines.  Thank You.

Joint pain is not a typical side-effect of beta-blockers.  Also the nature of the pain coming and going would not fit with a drug side-effect.  I would first suspect other causes of joint pain such as strain, rheumatological causes, etc.

Dear Wondering,

Check out drug checker on drkoop.com. It is very informative and you can check out drug/food and drug/drug interactions, too.
