a-fib

Three years ago I had a mitral valve repair. My heart was pierced during a try for the hearport methond. It was unsuccessful and I had regular open heart surgury. My left ventricle is slightly enlarged. A 3mm ring was inserted around the mitral valve. Now I am experiencing a-fib, and irregular rhythm. My doctors want a TEE and cardioversion. Is the TEE test dangerous?

No, a TEE is not dangerous. It involves passing a thin tube down the throat to take a look at the heart. It can be a little uncomfortable, but the risk of serious complications is extremely low.
