Heart Rhythm Problems

by amarilyn, Oct 29, 2006 12:00AM
Thank you for answering my questions,

I am a 36 year old mother of three, about a year ago, I started to have palpitations, so I went into the hospital, they did all the tests, found PVC, and found my potass level was too low gave me pills and sent me home, In about July, I started having chest pains/pressure, heart racing, and skipping beats, while i was in the hospital, they found that I had PSVT, A fib, still PVCs, they put me on digoxin, diltaizem, they worked for a while, but recently, the syptoms have started to come back all the tests, MMbi, stress tests, ct angiogram, blood tests, have all show up fine, on the 24 holter, my heart rate went from 60 to 180 sporatically, with no apparant relation to chest pain or any symptoms,They found I had PSVT, ad A-fib. Later I was checking my pulse when my chest hurt, my pulse rate was ok, while i was checking it my chest stopped hurting, and my pulse got stronger? REcently a doctor found I had a heart murmur, more pronounced while laying down. Any ideas of what all this could be, I am getting more worried as the episodes of pvc, skipping beats are getting more frequent, I am also feeling faint and dizzy, I get to the hospital I feel fine

Please help,   Marilyn

amarilyn,

thanks for the post.

For the murmur, an echocardiogram would show any particular abnormality.

Remember, arrythmias may not have anything to do with coronary blockages. Thus a stress test may not be that helpful. If you are having continued PSVT, A fib then you may benefit from either antiarrythmic therapy or ablation. I would see an electrophysiologist to help with your therapy.

good luck

There is a less invasive angiogram, it is a ct angiogram, they inject dye, and then take a ct scan. no catheter involved, I asked my doctor if stress could cause heart problems, he said that it would agravate  any problems, hope this helps

I did have a dye test after I had a stress test they shot dye in me while I was running then they did a scan but My doctor says it was fine the test that would make sure would be the vasive test......

that was a mmbi test, the ct angigram checks the blood vessels around the heart for blockages, it is a 3d version of the one where they put the wire into you,
